Saloon Rock: that’s what best describes this sort of music. The masterful blend of energetic acoustic guitar, pizzicato and legato strings, a country/folk-style 2/4 drum beat and Adam Turla’s smooth, baritone voice in this track really paints a vivid portrait of the old west in my mind. Although not my personal favorite track in Murder By Death’s discography, it still is a prime example of the unique talent the band possesses to fuse several genres of music together in one track, seamlessly. It’s raw, artistic talent like this that makes me sad anything outside the stale pool of “mainstream” isn’t as widely recognized and appreciated as it should be.
